U9 Program Info

Objectives & Expected Level

The initiation program (U7&U9) is Hockey Canada's premiere “Learn to Play '' program and is the foundation of skill development in TMHA.
Designed for players 5-8 years of age to learn the basic fundamentals they will have fun and develop confidence. The program consists of four phases of instruction, designed for any entry-level hockey player, helping introduce the skills of skating, puck control, passing and shooting in a fun and age appropriate progressive manner.
If a new player has FUN, develops basic skills and builds confidence, there is a better chance they will enjoy hockey for a lifetime. That's what the initiation program does.
